Large Figurine Necklace

This talisman is completely carved from a stone found at the Xaghra Circle on Gozo, Malta.  The image is a replica of the limestone statuettes unearthed at the Xaghra site--purported to be 5000 years old. If you click the link, above, you'll find a photo of a collection of these figurines. This one is assigned "female" due to the petalled skirt seen in statuary and figurines throughout Malta.
Xaghra Circle is another underground/burial site. Unlike the Hal Saflieni site, this one was properly excavated and preserved.  It is within walking distance to the Ggantija Temple site--the oldest temple site in the world.

This 3.5" x 1.25"W figurine is carved of dark terra-cotta colored stone that does not photograph well.  The image on this page, showing 2 figurines, the larger figure depicts the color closest to how it actually appears.  The dark differentiations on the face and neck appear blue in these photos, but are just darker, slightly gray when viewed in person. These are naturally occurring colorations in the stone the piece was carved from.
